The Portage Sunday Soccer League is back for another season.

The co-ed adult soccer program will once again be hosted weekly at Republic Park with four games scheduled every Sunday. One of the league founders Dave Oshust describes the structure of the league.

"It's co-ed soccer and we play 5-on-5 on smaller fields," Oshust explains. "We've made some rule adjustments and got some smaller nets as well. It has been a huge success."

He adds they have seven players per team with two subs and no goalies. Oshust says they like to make the teams world cup themed with everyone representing a different country but notes they make the teams randomly.

"Everybody who enters into the league for $50, we put their name into a hat and draw the names out to make teams," says Oshust. "We then designate them a world cup country team. We also try to have at least two girls on every team."

Oshust says they will be having two sets of games every Sunday at both 5:30 and 7 p.m., noting it will end up being a round-robin series with everyone playing each other at least once. He notes their final weekend is basically like a playoff elimination round.

May 9 is the start date they have planned and while registration has wrapped up, the league does need a specific number of players to orchestrate teams. So, if anyone is still interested in taking part visit the league Facebook page for all the details.
