Andrew Harris and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have come together one last time.

The Running Back announced Friday on the Blue Bombers 'Handled Internally' podcast that he will be signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of his hometown team later this month.

The journey of Andrew Harris, an Oak Park High School alumni, in the Canadian Football League (CFL) began in 2009 as a practice roster player with the B.C. Lions. Determination and skill led Harris to become a regular on the Lions, even leading them to a Grey Cup championship in 2011 against the Blue Bombers. Despite breaking the hearts of Winnipeg football fans in 2011, he would eventually make it up to those same fans, signing with Winnipeg for the 2016 season. His contribution was instrumental in leading the team to Grey Cup titles in 2019 and 2021.

On February 8, 2022, Harris agreed to terms with the Toronto Argonauts after spending six seasons in Winnipeg. The Argos would help the Running Back capture his fourth and final championship ring by upsetting the heavily favoured Blue Bombers in the 109th Grey Cup.

Despite leaving for Toronto, it's clear that his heart never fully left Winnipeg, as evidenced by his decision to sign a one-day contract with the Blue Bombers.

On April 27 in Manitoba’s capital, Harris will make his retirement officially official at The Met and retire a Blue Bomber. 

Andrew Harris finishes his CFL career in fifth place in the league record books for all-time rushing leaders. Congrats, #33, on a spectacular career.
