The Hick Chicks Rodeo Grand Entry and Drill Ride Team are holding their 6th annual fundraiser Saturday afternoon in Austin. One of the leaders of the team is Lynn Reimer, and she explains it's to raise money for a local resident with diabetes to cover costs Manitoba Health doesn't cover.

"This will be the sixth fundraiser that we've had. We're doing it for Anthony Potvin this year," says Reimer. "We're raising money to help him purchase an insulin pump for his diabetes. With that, we're also going to be taking an extra donation. For those who like to give separate money directly to him, that's fine, too."

She notes the insulin pump normally costs just over $7-thousand, and being a young father and husband makes it hard for such a purchase.

Reimer explains this year's dinner is stuffed pork loin, baked potato, corn and meatballs, with a apple crisp dessert.

It all takes place at Austin Community Hall. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening, and supper is at 6:00. A silent auction's also taking place.

The Sharpe Sisters will be singing again this year, and tickets are $20 each. It's best to get tickets beforehand since they're running out. You can call or text Reimer for tickets at (204) 871-4190.
