A Super Hero can be defined many different ways depending on who you ask. Things that come to mind for many of us when we think about "Super Hero's" are comic books and blockbuster film productions...

However, those who are battling cancer or know someone battling cancer might define a Super Hero completely differently. The only super power you need to be a Super Hero.... is hope!! Being a Super Hero of Strength is within your power!

Central Plains Cancer Services, Schapansky Florist and Rentals along with CFRY are looking for the Super Heroes of Strength!

If you know someone who goes above and beyond to help out someone battling cancer and bring a little hope into their lives, then we want to hear about it! Maybe they cook meals for you, drive you to doctors appointments, or even something as simple as paying a visit when you really need a friend.  If they inspire hope... They are a Super Hero of Strength!

Nominate your Super Hero of Strength below, and they could win some awesome prizes!

WINNERS:

Cindy Mulder: When a friend found out she had breast cancer for the second time Cindy went above and beyond to help her family through it. She looked after their youngest child while she was in the hospital, arranged for a bunch of us to make her meals for the first week when she returned home and many more acts of kindness for this great family since the surgery in the fall. This was all while dealing with the loss of her Mother. Cindy is definitely a hero in my eyes!!!

Micheline Berard: While my Mom was in Palliative Care at Portage Hospital (colon cancer), Micheline was one of the nurses who took care of my Mom. She was having a super busy day and took time on her coffee break to sit with my family at my Mom's bedside to learn more about her and her life. The time she took to talk to us and sit with us was so much appreciated! At the time it was just what we needed... an angel to sit with us and listen during a very difficult time. I'll never forget her kind heart and compassion for others. Micheline is truly an angel is disguise!

Suzanne Harris: The minute I heard this on the radio this wonderful woman popped into my head. She is the true definition of strength and determination. Her courage, her will and overall outlook on life is nothing short of amazing. She has been battling cancer and a lot of people know her. I will never forget the day I read her post where she announced her cancer was terminal. As tears ran down my face I could not believe what I was reading. She has an amazing strength and zest for life that is completely unbelievable. She has not let this illness defeat her. She carries on and she always has a smile on her face. She went back to work a bit ago and I ran into her and we had an enlightening conversation and as she gave me a hug I could only hope that her strength would rub off. I can't begin to imagine what she is dealing with but this lady is a Super Hero because she has learned to celebrate life and taught many others including myself that no matter what you face you carry on and celebrate the victories you get no matter how small. She is a true hero in my books and I know there are lots of others out there that feel the same way.

Lois Wilson: On the road of life it is what it is But , it sure helps when God sends his Earth Angels to be your Friends along the way ! Such a person is my dear friend Lois . She was there giving of her time constant support , love and most of all encouragement as we sat togther around my MOM ,S hospital bed in what would be the final days of her life . Lois was with us through the days and nites . , offering us hope and giving us strength . She gave of her time so selflessly and said she was only a phone call away if we needed to talk or just sit quietlyand hold our hand .words not needed as she understood what we were going through. Lois has also been there as a pillar of strength 4 her niece Wandas family as Wanda battled cancer for the past three years ,Taking Wanda to doctor appts , nursing her at home and driving to visit her everyday once Wanda was palliative She gave up soooo much of her personal time putting her LIFE on pause to be there to lend a shoulder to cry on or an attentive ear at any time day or night !and during this time Lois lost her eldest son passing with a heartattack ! I often wondered where she got the inner strength , and constant compassion for others when she was grieving herself . Lois is truly MY impeccable SUPER HERO OF STRENGTH !!!!
