The William Glesby Centre held their annual general meeting last night. The talk was mostly about looking forward to their pending merger with the Portage and District Arts Centre and the changes that will happen as a result. Board Member Jim Brands spoke about a highlight of the past year.

"The acts that we brought in," says Brands. "We did spend a bit more money on acts this past year. We've done a couple of different events over the past few years. We're really trying to widen what we actually do here. We want people to know that the place is for rent for weddings or for whatever it might be."

Brands mentioned with the upcoming merger, there is still a lot that needs to be ironed out and worked on. He notes that this upcoming year may be one of the most exciting that he's had on the board.

"In order for an organization to grow, you have to change and you have to look towards the future," adds Brands. "That's what we're doing, we're moving towards the future and it's getting more exciting."

It certainly looks to be a busy year for the William Glesby Centre.
