A program is starting up in Portage for those who want to 'Learn To Skate.'

Vienna Muise with Family Resource Centre says lessons begin Monday (Jan 15) in Portage.

"It's every other Monday for, I believe, six sessions at Stride Place," explains Muise. "The exciting part is the Terriers have already committed to coming for a couple of sessions and helping us teach the kids. We are still looking for volunteers."

She notes if you've got a passion for skating and teaching kids how to skate, please give them a call. Lessons are for children ages 6 to 16.

"They've already registered and actually spaces filled up the day we opened registration," adds Muise. "We've also got some adults that are interested in learning, and we're looking into potentially doing that down the road, but right now, it's essentially just teaching the kids."

Muise adds the PCI Trojans are looking at taking time to commit and help, and they've also reached out to the local ringette club.

"So, any anybody interested, just reach out to here at Family Resource Centre."
