The City of Portage la Prairie spent a couple of days last week touching up the banks of Crescent Lake.

Brian Taylor is Superintendent of Public Works and outlines the effort.

"We used to have a lake bank stabilization program," says Taylor. "Every year, we put a fair bit of money and effort into creating the lake bank the way it is. And for the last 15-plus years, we have a little bit of maintenance work wherever it's needed just to make sure that the stabilization is good and appealing to the eye as well."

He notes they have enough money every year to implement a couple of loads of crushed limestone on top of the rubble that's in place. Taylor says this helps stabilize everything and gives it a pleasing effect.
