Portage Co-op members received an early Christmas present today.
The Co-op handed out cheques as part of its cash back program this morning. General Manager Kevin Dales says 2005 was a successful year and they're pleased to give back to members. He notes when things are working right this is what members can expect from the Co-op and hopefully it keeps growing in the future.
A total of $895,000 is being distributed among over 6,000 members. The largest cheque was presented to the Pine Creek School Division, it was worth $25,000. Meanwhile the Austin Community Building Fund walked away with a cheque worth $7,700, member Dan Werbiski received a $6,800 cheque and the Portage School Division was presented with a cheque worth around $4,000. Members can pick up their cheques at the Portage Co-op on Saskatchewan avenue today and tomorrow, for those who can't make it, cheques will be delivered by mail.
