Christmas Holidays at the CPR Station is taking place this weekend through Monday.

It's located just north of the railway on Third Street NE. Model Railroad Club president President Malcolm Stanley is excited to share the collection of electric trains that are running and on display at the heritage location.

"We're here and we thought, 'What better time than Christmas, when lots of people had trains they had a train for Christmas, and people seem to think of model trains," says Stanley. "So, we got a store with model train artifacts to buy. But we also got seven layouts here."

He notes Santa will also be there for the children. Hot chocolate is available with a cookie, and they'd like to see as many people come to the free display as possible.

Stanley points to the newest addition to their collection.

"And this was just donated to us from a club that had to close because they couldn't maintain the building," explains Stanley. "This was produced by a doctor many years ago. This is N-Gauge, which is very small. And it's absolutely beautiful. Somebody started to count the people on there, and there are literally hundreds of people."

They're open for special hours as follows:

  • December 21 & 23: 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
  • December 22: 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

A gift store is also there and the station's all decked out for Christmas.
