Crops in the Portage la Prairie received some rain recently, and are now enduring a heat wave.

Craig Finnie farms northwest of the city, and says the crops are looking good so far.

"I don't think we're too bad for moisture," he says, "I guess the heat over this next couple of days probably won't do good canola any good, but I suppose it's good for the corn crop. The corn is really growing fast. And the canola looks good, it's all flowering, but the heat won't do it any good. It'll probably knock some of the flowers off."

Finnie's turned his attention to spraying fungicide.

"Basically finished the fungicide spraying on the canola, now," he says, "And we sprayed some of the cereals. We haven't sprayed any fungicide yet on the edible beans, but probably will."
