Culture Days is approaching quickly! This is a chance for you to embrace the arts, music, active living, sports, and other communities that Portage la Prairie has to offer. They seek to involve as many community organizations as possible. September 30th has a fun filled day ahead for anyone interested in exploring other hobbies people appreciate and live! Let's take a look at the schedule:

 

Culture on the Crescent (2 - 4pm on Crescent Lake Pathway)

Human Books 800 - 600 block SW along Crescent Road West

        Individuals will be stationed here for you to ask and learn more about them, their jobs, and their cultural background.

  •         2:30-3pm Michael Blume: our very own radio reporter, portrait artist, pastor
  •         2-3pm Les Greene: Historian | Vern May: PRED Executive Director, wrestler | Betty-Jean Checkly: Hutterian teacher, Habitat for Humanity, Sierra Leon experience
  •         3-4pm Irvine Ferris: Mayor, garlic grower, gardener | Heather Bruce: teacher, just finished cycling across Canada | Jackie Shulz: Funeral Celebrant | Don Pelechaty: Mortician, Historian, ask about Clark Gable and others that have visited Portage la Prairie.

 

Arts/Music (18th St SW - 9th St SW along the Crescent)

Arts/Music will also include dramatic book readings by PDL, a postcard project hosted by the PCRC, and a Light up the Night Creation Station

Celebrate the Night (6:45pm - 11pm at the Ukrainian Band Stand)

Starting Saturday Night after sunset, this is an evening celebrating the people of Portage la Prairie and their many interests through lively and fun activities.

  • Glow in the Dark Precision Drumming 8:10-8:30
  • Micheline's POW Dancers 8:40-9
