New Canadian citizens can learn about Canadian history for free at the Fort la Reine Museum.

It's all part of the Cultural Access Program, a nation-wide initiative to help new citizens learn more about the country. Fort la Reine Museum Executive Director and Curator Tracy Turner comments.

"The Fort la Reine Museum is free for new Canadian citizens and they can come and learn about Canadian history and feel a little bit more of a part of a country that they're starting to join and be a part of in the community. I think it's an incredibly rich responsibility and also honour to be able to educate them in that way, so we're opening our doors to new citizens."

Anyone who is becoming a new citizen can apply for a cultural access program card which can be picked up at the museum or at other participating institutions.
