COVID-19 has brought the realization to many that they need to find more ways to be occupied. With that in mind, Grandmaster Stephen Prince put together online Martial Arts classes to help keep people active and give them something to do.

He says while he was planning the sessions, a group approached him and wanted to partner up.

“I was contacted by Dakota Ojibway Child & Family Services,” says Prince. “They offered to sponsor a fall session which was from October - December and it was a successful program. So, they decided to pick my program up from another session that is going from January - March.”

The sessions run twice a week and can be viewed at any time on Facebook or the Microsoft Teams website. Prince says they have two separate programs, both with two sessions per week.

“The first program is geared toward younger children and families. It’s a mix of Sikaran, which is a Filipino Martial Art similar to Taekwondo and Karate, blended with Taekwondo,” Prince explains. “The second set of lessons is focused on stick-fighting. We’ve been teaching a little bit of stick-fighting and a little bit of knife-fighting twice a week.”

He says they currently have over 100 viewers per lesson and are very happy with the way things have gone to this point. For those looking to take part, they can register by going to the ‘Prince Ogitchita Martial Arts Systems - POMAS’ Facebook page and sending them a message.
