The Tiger Hills Hockey League is officially a go. The league announced that they will be having a twelve game regular season with a tentative start date of November 7th. Gladstone Lakers head coach Dale Evenson says he hopes for another successful season for their club.

“Just like any other season, you try to win as many games as you can and hopefully win a championship at the end of the year,” Evenson explains. “It’s a long way from there, we have a lot of good teams in our division and there are extremely good teams in the other division. We just hope to play well and get through this without getting sick.”

One change this year will be the scheduling of games. Each team will only play the teams in their division in the regular season. There are two divisions each with seven teams, so each team will play their division opponents twice and those will all come as back-to-backs.

Evenson talks about the difficulties COVID-19 restrictions bring to a league like this.

“It’s going to be a pretty challenging year financially, for every team, for sure,” says Evenson. “We rely on the (revenue earned from fans) to help pay for the ice time and the refs. It’s going to be extremely difficult but the six home games will help us reduce the cost.”

There will be more details to come when the full schedule has been released.
