Helen Joan Knox (nee Adey) R.N. passed peacefully away after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Helen is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kevin, daughters Lynn, Jill (Rick), Joanne and son Kevin (Sharilyn), five grandchildren, Stephanie (Declan), Drew (Mary Beth), Shea (Graeme), Kiaran, Cole (Erin) and two very special great-grandchildren Saoirse and Joseph (Joey). Sister Maria Prim, Brother John (Mary) Adey, Sisters-in-law Phyllis Farkas, Maureen Adey and special friend Carole Whyte.

Predeceased by her Parents Mary and John Adey, Mother and Father-in-law, Susanna (Susan) and William Knox, Sisters, Margaret (Walter) O’Brien, Rita (Edward) Anderson, Maureen (Gordon) Picco, Maria (Mary) Theresa Adey and Brother Martin Adey. Sisters-in-law Sheila (Austin) Innes, Joan (Pat) Byrne. Brothers-in-law Matthew Prim, Steven Farkas. Nieces and nephews, William, Gordon Jr, Craig, Mark, Judith, Alexis and Special Friend Jennette Trelenberg.

Leaving to mourn many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a large circle of Family, extended Family, and Friends.

Helen was born in St. John’s, NL, and raised for a while in Holyrood. She graduated from the General Hospital School of Nursing in 1961 and worked at The General, St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital and Portage La Prairie General Hospital where she retired in 2001.  Mom loved to tell the story of how she met Dad in 1960 and they married on June 9th, 1962. They moved their Family to Portage la Prairie, MB in 1974 and then returned to St. John’s, NL in 2016. Mom enjoyed camping, Curling, playing cards, board games, especially scrabble, travelling, Blue Bomber Games in Winnipeg and Regina, music and spending time with Family and Friends. She was a mom and Nanny to everyone and enjoyed a good laugh.

The Family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Rossiter, Dr. Rorke, Dr. Larson, Dr Kamran and Dr. Hurley. The Nurses and Staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, The Paramedics Providing Palliative Care and the Pain and Symptom Management Team, St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital 6 West, Kingsway Paradise, Angel of Hope and Sonha.

Visitation will take place from Cauls Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Newfoundland Standard Time. Funeral Service to follow from Cauls Chapel at 2 p.m., Newfoundland Standard Time, (11:30 a.m. Central Time.)
