A fundraiser is continuing efforts to raise money for local newcomers from Ukraine.

It's in cooperation with a local food supply store. Ryan Lucko is a youth intern with Communities Building Youth Futures and outlines how you can help.

"We are selling perogies by donation to raise money for locally displaced Ukrainian families here in Portage who have come after the war," says Lucko. "We're partnering with Real Foods, too. You can come get the perogies out there to raise money for these families and get them the help that they need here in town. From September 12th to the 17th, they can go by Real Foods over on River Road and ask to get some perogies by donation."

Lucko notes they were at the Portage mall parking lot recently and says things really picked up in the afternoon.

"It was really nice to see everyone come out and chat about the cause and be able to help support," adds Lucko. "The proceeds are being kept locally. They're not leaving community, so you're helping out locals in the community. That's a really big thing as well."

Lucko says there are lots of perogies left!
