The Portage Islanders met the Altona Maroons on the ice last night at Stride Place. The Isles took a 9-2 victory over the Maroons. The game started slowly, but soon picked up the pace, Assistant Coach Richard Taylor explains.

"The First period was a bit sloppy," Taylor says. "We're coming off a Christmas break so that was expected. We bounced back in the second and played very well. They didn't have a lot of people on the ice tonight so we just did our best and outworked them."

The Islanders have a game next week against the Morden Redskins. Isles player Tanner Waldvogel tells us what he thinks needs to happen for them to pick up their first win of 2019.

"They will give us a good test," Waldvogel claims. "They are a pretty solid team, so we just have to prepare and get ready to start on time."

Waldvogel also says the team needs to work on playing a full sixty minutes and not starting out so slow.
