The 18th annual Jingle Bell Breakfast took place at the William Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie and once again was a huge success. The breakfast is organized by the Salvation Army and aims to collect donations from the community for the Salvation Army's Christmas hamper program. Major Brenda Hammond of the Salvation Army expresses the organization was very pleased with the turnout.

"It's so wonderful," says Hammond. "Everyone is just coming together as a community. Individually we could never do this, but collectively it's just a wonderful event."

During the event, the Salvation Army brass band played, school bands, and choirs sang. Hammond would like to extend her thanks to all of Portage and adds it was once again a wonderful Jingle Bell Breakfast. Rusty Rutherford attended the breakfast and explains why he comes every year.

"I come because I have a huge admiration for the Salvation Army," says Rutherford. "They've done so much good for so many people. The least we can do is support them. It's very heartwarming to see so many people realize what a good job the Salvation Army is doing. We all, as a community, like to support them."
