The City of Portage la Prairie is hosting a vaxathon for children this holiday season, and Santa's involved.

Councillor Sharilyn Knox says it's part of the goal to see Portage become the highest vaccinated community in the province per-capita.

"The city has taken a stance on vaccinations," says Knox. "We're not there yet and we definitely have a long way to go. We know that this is our fight against COVID, but we are happy that, now, ages 5 to 11 are able to get vaccinated in our province. The Urban Indigenous Vaccine Clinic is going to be having a Kids Christmas Vaxathon, actually, on December 11 on a Saturday at the PCI west gym."

Knox says you can find further information by calling (204) 595-1666. She explains you can also book your appointment there.

"The biggest news on this is Santa and Mrs. Claus are going to be there because they're totally involved and happy with the fight against COVID," continues Knox. "So, make sure you bring your kids there, meet Santa, and get it done."

She adds she's very proud to say that Portage city council is a council that is 100 per cent vaccinated.
