The Portage Regional Library hosted a "Flamingle" yesterday. The event was an appreciation dinner put on by the library board to honour the staff and volunteers. Board Chair Evelyn Braun spoke about what it's like to be able to host the event.

"It's wonderful. Some of the volunteers come once a week, some do one or two presentations a year," says Braun. "A wide variety of things depending on their interests and their time situation. Our staff, of course, is just wonderful. We couldn't run the library without them and their hard work."

The dinner seemed to be a big hit and Braun agreed.

"We're really pleased with the turnout," adds Braun. "This is the largest turnout for one of these affairs that we've ever had. The board is so glad that we had this opportunity to show our appreciation to the staff and to the volunteers we have. Without all of them, we just would not have the quality (we do)."

Approximately 40 people attended the event, here's hoping the next event has an even bigger showing and an even more creative name.
