For the first time, the Portage Regional Library held it's appreciation get-together and lunch for both staff and volunteers. Board chair Evelyn Braun says the Portage Library has a lot to be proud of.

Evelyn Braun"It's just an opportunity to say thank you and how much the board appreciates all the work that both the staff and the volunteers do to make the library the great place it is," says Evelyn Braun, board chair. "It is known as one of the best rural libraries in the province, if not the best. And we just like to say thank you."

She says there were speeches and thank-you's included.

Lori MackedenskiProgram coordinator Lori Mackedenski says there are 20 staff and 35 volunteers. She notes it was a cowboy theme this year, with some dressed up to the occasion and chili and cornbread for food. She notes Braun's always gracious to allow her to choose each year. Music was performed by volunteers dressed in cowboy regalia.
