Randy Neufeld has done it again. The defending Manitoba’s Credit Union Master's Provincial Curling Champion from La Salle needed his last shot on Monday to defeat Team Murray Warren of Brandon 5-4. The win means Neufeld has retained the championship he won last year in Thompson. On the woman's side, Karen Fallis of Fort Rouge knocked off Judy Colwell of East St. Paul 7-4 on Sunday. All of the action played out at the Portage Curling Club.

Neufeld went through the event with an 8-2 record with one of those losses to Warren in the page 1 vs 1 playoff game. Warren had been undefeated going into the final game of the 16-team event. Following the loss, Neufeld set up the re-match with an 8-2 win over Pembina's Stan Struthers in the semi-final.

The men's and women's champs now set their sights on the 2024 Canadian Masters Curling Championships to be held April 7-13. Fourteen teams on each side will compete at the Chicoutimi Curling Club and Kenogami Curling Club, which is in nearby Saguenay. Both are in Quebec.

Team Neufeld also features Dean Moxham of Oakville at third. Next year, Portage will host the Viterra Men's Provincial Championships out of Stride Place.
