The boys golf team from MacGregor will head to Poplar Ridge to take on teams from other schools in the Zone 7 Golf Championships tomorrow. Rhett Boschman, Mason Borgfjord, Brody MacDonald and Mason Borgfjord will represent MacGregor Collegiate.  Coach Mark Borgfjord says the four-man team going has a decent shot at taking home the title, with the best three scores counting towards the final standings.

"Our top three should be fairly competitive this year," says Borgfjord. "We're going into it thinking we may have an outside chance of sneaking a win away but we'll see how it goes."

While most other collegiate sports involve lots of time and practice in an official setting, Borgfjord says the players on the team have to be motivated self-learners.

"We don't have a lot of time during the school year, once it really starts, to work on stuff," notes Borgfjord. "Zones is basically right at the start of school. They tend to work on their game a lot on their own. I try to get in a little bit of golf before Zones. We did a round together a couple days ago and we did a tournament in the spring. I just try to give them some pointers when I can. They are all fairly accomplished and good self-learners."

If the team takes home the banner, they will then move on and compete at Provincials.
