Madelene was born in Carman, Mb, on September 13, 1945. She was raised on the family farm near Haywood, Mb and remained there until she left to begin her own life. As a young woman she left rural Mb and set out on her journey to make her own way in the world. Madelene lived in many cities in western Canada, moving as far as Vancouver; but still being close to her family. Being the social person she was, meeting new friends and acquaintances was not a difficult thing for her.

Madelene moved back to Mb in 1968 to upgrade her education and began her career(s) revolving around accounting and office management, with Woolco/Walmart being her longest career field.

Madelene led a very busy life, raising 2 small children and still finding time to enjoy family outings, bowling, horseshoes, dancing and helping others; usually with 2 children in tow. Family was very important to Madelene which she instilled into her children.

As her children got older and made their way in the world, she still led a very busy life. Madelene could be found volunteering for the Manitoba Fiddle Association, Association for Community Living Portage, ARC Industries, and numerous other foundations. Being a Champion Jigger, she also volunteered her time to teach and perform at various events. Madelene was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church and loved coffee parties and potluck meals. Madelene was also a member of the Manitoba Metis Federation which she was very proud to be; a Metis woman. When grandchildren began to arrive, Madelene shifted gears into the grandmother role and spoiled them with a stern gentle hand and a loving heart.
