The Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a home invasion early this morning.

 Police say a call was received during the early hours of June 3, at a residence on 2nd Street NW, regarding the incident.

Mounties report a man entered the home with an improvised firearm, proceeded to threaten the occupants, assault them, and then stole items before fleeing on foot.

Officers say they located the suspect, and he was arrested without incident after a short pursuit. A later search turned up suspected crystal methamphetamine.

29-year-old Bradley Houle faces a slew of charges including two counts of robbery with a firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, breaking and entering, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, two counts of weapons possession contrary to order, and uttering threats.
