Macdonald, Manitoba's Paige McArthur is in her first year with the University of Windsor Lancers. The forward spent her last two seasons in the NCAA, with College of the Holy Cross, but decided to transfer back up to Canada for this season. She describes what the change has been like.

"The transition has been different, school-wise and just having to get to know a new team," McArthur says. "I've had to figure out what the team wants, and it's just been an entirely different transition, but it has been a great one."

McArthur says her squad played in seven regular-season games prior to Christmas but hasn't gotten on the ice since then, due to COVID-19 restrictions in Ontario. In those contests, the local scored three goals and added an assist as well. She says they will finally be back on the ice today and notes she can't wait.

"I'm very excited," says McArthur. "We have a great group of girls, and I feel like we can do a lot of damage in this league."

The 20-year-old says she feels like she has more of a solidified role with the Lancers this year.

"I found I was a fourth-line grinder, type of player," McArthur explains. "Now I am someone who is relied on to make plays and help score goals."

After helping her team to a record of 3-1-3 so far this year, McArthur plans to put her best foot forward heading into the second part of her season.

"I am trying to up my points per game average and my shooting percentage. Those are some goals I aim to hit, but I haven't quite decided on what percentage exactly I want to be my goal."

McArthur and the Lancers are back in action tonight at 7:30 as they welcome the Guelph Gryphons to town in their 2022 debut.
