Portage residents had the chance to give their opinions about a feasibility study looking at building a new recreation complex here.

Roughly 50 people took part in a dialogue led by consultant Brian Johnston, who's working with Stantec of Winnipeg.

No one voiced opposition to the idea, and Rec Centre Committee Member Jeff Bereza feels that's a continuation of the positive response they've received since the study was announced. He believes the time is right for the facility.

Consultant Brian Johnston adds that kind of support is typical for the beginning of the process. He adds support needs to be strong because of cost and market size.

Meanwhile, resident Ed Dychko believes building the complex is important. He hopes more people will be at the next public meeting.
