For most of the weekend, people in Portage la Prairie have been waiting for the snow that has yet to come. As of 7 p.m. Sunday night, very little of the white stuff had fallen however there has been plenty of freezing rain. To the west, things have been much worse and many highways are closed this evening. A winter storm warning remains in effect and more freezing rain and up to 10 centimeters of snow may still fall. The wind will gust as high as 70 km/h so visibility will be poor in many areas.

Because of the icy conditions, the Trans-Canada Highway is closed in both directions between Austin and Brandon and from Brandon to Griswold.
