A local high school baseball coach is offering his thoughts on the year that was. The Manitoba High School season came to a close last weekend with the Provincial tournament being held in Stonewall and Grosse Isle, where Crocus Plains was eventually crowned champions.

The MacGregor Mustangs compete in Zone 7 of high school athletics but although they fielded a competitive squad did not win the zone banner, that title went to Neepawa.

MacGregor also competes in the Prairie West High School Baseball League and Coach, Bryan Marriott, says across the board the club got consistent play from its roster. He points out that the squad is losing some talented veterans but it's his hope that next year's rookies can fill that void and help them improve their record in both leagues.

Just some of the roster that won't be returning next year that Marriott says the club will miss include third baseman Mark Reimer, south paw pitcher Josh Loewen, and David Sattler who plays centre field.

In the Prairie West High School Baseball League the club garnered mixed results. However, MacGregor went undefeated in three zone games with two wins and one tie. As for Marriott, he says he has full intentions of returning as Coach of the Mustangs next season.
