The RM of Grahamdale's Economic Development Officer will officially start in the coming weeks. Reeve Clifford Halaburda gives a brief description of their new EDO.

"Her name is Chandelle Bauch. She's a local resident, or was a local resident. She was one of the 3 people picked and we figured she would be the best person for the job. She's going to be working for the RM of Grahamdale. Whatever has to be done in the town sites in the RM of Grahamdale, she'll bring to the table."

Halaburda talks about why they went with someone local.

"That's par for the course. There's no reason to have an (unknown) person when there is a person that's local and knows the area and will work. Makes it so much easier for us."

He says it'll take a little while for her to get settled in.

"I'm not quite sure what she'll be doing off the bat. There might be some local development, or even wayside parks. It's just a starting position and we'll know more in a month or two once she get into the office and gets working -- which should be a month or a month-and-a-half. Whatever it's going to take."

Halaburda says hiring a local is much better than an outsider as they'll know the region much better, which can assist them with their duties. The new EDO will start in the coming weeks.
