Maintaining a manageable and efficient environment is central to student learning, and the Portage School Board is taking steps to do that. Last night's meeting saw an addition to school policy addressing the disruption of school operations. Assistant Superintended Hazen Barret notes they've been looking at the addition over the past couple of years.
He explains schools across the province are struggling to deal with disturbances organized through text messages and emails. Barrett points out disturbances can range from a simple nuisance to organizing a fight. He believes this addition to the policy will give them a frame of reference to work from, so they can be consistent in dealing with the issues which arise.
