Jennifer Campbell Dornan is excited to see Portage's Rotary Club grow as she hands the keys to the club over to a new President.

The Rotary Club of Portage la Prairie held their executive changeover meeting on June 27th. Campbell Dornan handed the role of president to Sherri Palmer. Campbell Dornan says it's been quite the process to go from where they were when she took over two years ago to now.

"We were still coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic," explains Campbell Dornan. "We were still doing online meetings and now we've come all full circle right back to the way things were before the pandemic. We're meeting in person again, we're doing fundraisers, we're having events."

She adds it's been great to see the reemergence of the club, with events such as the Canada Day breakfasts, veggie sale, Santa Claus parade, and more all returning. She mentions that Rotary is a great place because they want to get up and be the change, not just sit and talk about it.

"Rotary is about service above self, and it epitomizes what it means to be a person that believes in their community and wants to give back." notes Campbell Dornan. "Rotary is very special to me. It's been somewhere I've been able to grow as a person, grow in my career, and network with other leaders in the community."

In closing, she wishes Palmer good luck as president, but notes that she probably won't need it.

"She's already proven her leadership skills. Being a part of the executive, I've been able to watch her just grow into that position," says Campbell Dornan. "I'm so excited to work under her guidance and help to grow the club with her as president."
