This year, you have the oppourtunity to share in Canada’s 150 Mosaic Project. This project celebrates Canada’s 150th birthday with 150 community murals spanning from coast to coast. The cross-Canada mural, if ever connected, would span 4 football fields in length and reach a height of 2.5m. Portage la Prairie is one of three communities in Manitoba to be chosen and preparations are already underway for next year. The Portage Public Art Committee is involved with this project and chair, Roberta Christianson, stopped in to talk about progress on this project. The image chosen for the mosaic reflects Portage’s history:

 

 

The mosaic is composed of 650 individual tiles and will highlight the diversity of Portage la Prairie:
