The Municipality of Westlake-Gladstone sent in a request to increase the utility rate in Plumas following studies made by the municipality.

"Dale Lyle did a utility rates study," says Mayor David Single. "He's done a couple of them for us over the years. And this is for the Plumas utility. By his recommendation we passed first reading of a bylaw which would increase the utility rates for Plumas in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021. It takes that long for it to go through the municipal board."

Single explains quarterly rates will increase about $8.50 per year, while they're currently at $51.00 a quarter. This makes an overall increase of up to $76 a quarter if you use the normal amount of water which is one thousand gallons a month.

Council now awaits approval.
