The Manitoba Independent Investigative Unit is taking a look at an incident that occurred in Sandy Bay.

RCMP notified the unit on August 13, 2020, of an incident that occurred on the same day involving the arrest of multiple people.

Throughout the arrest, suspects kept running away from the area.

A police service dog was used to catch two suspects. Both sustained dog bites during the ordeal.

Both suspects were transported to The Portage Hospital, and one suspect had to receive surgery due to the dog bite.

According to the IIU, a burn, cut or laceration that requires admission to a hospital is defined as a serious injury and is mandated to investigate.
