The Association of Manitoba Municipalities Spring convention officially started Wednesday. City Councillor Faron Nicholls is there with Portage Mayor Sharilyn Knox and other city officials. Nicholls says it's his third AMM convention that he's personally attended.

"I'm trying to run into and see the workshops that look very interesting. I just had a good tour through the trade show and the presenters there are doing a great job. The networking of it is huge. There are folks from all over Manitoba. We're up over to 500 this morning at our opening assembly, so it's exciting. There are lots of fresh topics and we've got a bit of a platform here with the provincial government. A few ministers are here, as well, so that's all really good."

He notes Wednesday morning saw discussions on the provincial budget and some concepts and pieces within that.

"The work that goes into the AMM in putting this on and the folks that are involved with it this is very much appreciated. I know that lots of municipalities enjoy this piece and their work is tireless in hosting this event."
