People gathered today at the International Peace Garden to remember what happened on September 11th of 2001.

A large number of emergency workers were in attendance at the garden south of Boissevain. This is Emergency Responders Week in Manitoba.

Captain George Kerr is with the Portage la Prairie Fire Department. He has been a firefighter for 25 years. He believes it's something that should be remembered because a lot of people gave their lives in trying to save others.

Dignitaries praised the efforts the emergency workers who went into the World Trade Center while everyone else was trying to get out.
