Conservative party member and Portage-Lisgar candidate Candice Bergen held a barbecue yesterday to bring people together and to help people understand the importance of the upcoming election.

She says Erin O'Toole has a plan for how to progress the country as the pandemic will slowly start to fade from view. She explains that one of the biggest concerns they'll look to address is recovery.

"(We're) the only party with a plan for our economic recovery. To secure jobs, to secure mental health," Explains Bergen. "Secure accountability, secure our ability to make our own vaccines and then get our finances under control with a plan to balance the budget within 10 years."

She adds the plan has been well received throughout the country, and adds this showcases herself and the rest of the conservative party as an ethical, responsible party. She goes into detail on inflation and why she, along with the rest of her party, view that to be a problem.

"We've got a country that's growth is stagnant, inflation is through the roof," notes Bergen. "The cost of everything is going up because of Trudeau's policies and people want a Conservative government to bring some responsible fiscal policy back so they'll get a strong Member of Parliament in me."

Election day is September 20.
