The Portage Golf Club concluded its Men's Open last night. Club General Manager Deb Pritchard says aside from some less-than-ideal weather conditions, it was a great tournament.

"We had a great weekend," says Pritchard. "All in all, the only thing that could've been better, the weather could've co-operated a little bit more, a couple guys got a little wet, but other than that, we had a decent number of participants, we'd love to see it go up, but all in all, it was a fabulous weekend."

Pritchard says the tournament could've gone to almost anyone in the field.

"It was interesting. There were a lot of guys coming through the turn that were saying because there was such a tight race, the leader had a two stroke lead, it wouldn't take much for a swing one way or the other."

In the end, Brian Spence won the tournament with a score of 145, after a playoff against Jay Doyle.

The top 5 played out like this:

1. Brian Spence 72-75–147 (winner in a playoff)

2. Jay Doyle 72-75-147

3. Don Jackson 74-74–148

4. Nolan Tukaluk 72-76–148

5. Farrol Asham 75-75–149
