The Portage Padres will take to the field at Republic Park tonight when they look to wrap up the Santa Clara Baseball League Championship with a victory over the Carberry Royals. The Padres have primed themselves for a sweep by winning the first two games of the best of five series. Portage took Game 1 on Friday by a score of 4-2 and then their bats came alive in Game 2 with a 12-7 win. Pitcher Dustin Donald has been a workhorse for the Padres all season long and he says they just need to keep the same mentality and game plan that they've had so far this season.

"We just have to keep doing what we've been doing," says Donald. "We've been playing well all year so there isn't really anything we need to change. As long as our bats can keep going we should be fine."

While Portage has compiled an impressive streak of 20 wins in a row dating back to the second game of the season, they are refusing to take the Royals lightly as they feel Carberry has proven that they deserve to be right alongside them in the final.

"They're a really good team," says Donald. "You can tell they were meant to be in the Finals with us. We're just playing really well right now and everything is falling in line for us. We'll take the hits when we get them and keep on having fun, we'll see what happens this next game."

The Royals have shown their offense is definitely one of the better lineups in the league, led by power-hitter Drew Allan who hit a home run in Game 1. Donald spoke about how they like to approach such a dangerous offense.

"I just like to go after him," says Donald. "If you make a mistake you have to tip your cap to him but you need to keep going after him to let him know that you're not worried about him."

The Padres will have the chance to clinch their second title in franchise history with a victory tonight. They won the championship for the first time in 2016. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
