Randy Neufeld's rink finished the round robin with a record of 6-1.  They earned the right to play the top team from the other pool, Dave Boehmer's team from Petersfield.  Neufeld would give up six in the seventh end to fall 10-4.  They were then relegated to the semi-final where they faced off with Murray Warren's rink from Brandon.  They would come out on top with a 5-1 victory.  That would set up the rematch in the finals between Neufeld and Boehmer.  This time the result was much tighter but the outcome was ultimately the same.  Boehmer would defeat Neufeld 3-2 to claim the championship.

Randy Neufeld's Portage rink is 5-1 in round robin play at the Strathcona Trust Senior Men's Provincial Championship. Neufeld sits in first place in his pool with his final draw coming up today at 12:30 pm. With a win, Neufeld would guarantee a first-place finish in his pool. By finishing first in the pool, he would set up a draw with the other pool's first place team with the winner getting a bye to the championship.

Neufeld looks to be in the mix for a strong finish as they are up against the 0-6 Kelly McMechan rink from Deloraine in the final round-robin draw. A loss, however, would drop him to 5-2, potentially setting up a tiebreaker with the teams trailing him if they are victorious in their final draws. The first round of the playoffs starts tomorrow at 9:00 am with the championship draw getting underway at 4:00 pm. All draws are being held at the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club in Winnipeg.
