Fort La Reine School has been collecting non-perishables since late November for their annual Christmas Cart.

The cart is a tradition for the school's Parent Advisory Council to raise funds and give back. After receiving all the donations, the school turns the items into two holiday hampers.

One hamper gets raffled off at their Christmas concert on December 9th. While the other is given away to a family at the school that the council thinks would benefit from receiving a hamper.

Principal Matt Harkness has been at the school for the last five years and says it's a beautiful tradition that he looks forward to continuing.

"It's just a good feeling around Christmas to help others out," adds Harkness. "It's just nice to give back to the community, students and families that help support our school."

Harkness notes that giving back is what the holiday season is all about and something his school is proud to do.
