A regular drive into Portage la Prairie became one of the most memorable moments in recent times for Kevin Le Lievre.

After just returning to Portage on April 1st, Le Lievre was in his car with his wife when his phone rang. When he saw the caller ID display, he says he couldn't believe his eyes.

"I looked, and I saw that Cody Buhler (Director of Marketing for the Portage Terriers), and it flashed in my mind, they're making the draw today," explains Le Lievre. "I answered the phone, and he said he had some good news. I said I hope this isn't an April Fools prank."

Once Buhler assured him he wouldn't do something like that and the reality set in that they were $26,455 richer, they took off to get to Stride Place as quickly as possible. He adds that it was amazing to see how quickly the news spread, as some of his friends had beat him to Stride Place to congratulate him.

When asked if Le Lievre regularly finds himself on the winning side of these kinds of raffles, he said no, except for a 50/50 he won in the United States.

"I went to a convention last year in Dallas, went to a Texas Rangers game and won a 50/50 in July," notes Le Lievre. "So, people are telling me to pull the horseshoe out of my butt, but I've never experienced anything like this."

When it comes to spending his new found wealth, Le Lievre plans to travel to Ontario to visit his grandchildren in the summer, something he's been hoping to do for quite some time. He's also considering purchasing a new vehicle for his family.

"My wife and I have been Terrier season ticket holders for quite some time it's nice to see the money stay in Portage," says Le Lievre.
