The mayor's chair in Portage is no longer a hand-me-down.

Incumbent councilor Earl Porter joins Ken Brennan for the race -- it's his second attempt, after first running in 2002.

He looks forward to building on the city's relationship with the RM, as it's proven beneficial for both parties.

With a growing problem in auto-theft, Porter cites crime as his number one priority.

He also wants to focus on growth in housing development to keep people in Portage, and plans to rejuvenate the downtown area.  Porter doesn't want to see another park fill the void created by last week's fire.
