'Pothole la Prairie' not living up to the name so far in 2024?

Manitobans have been feeling the pain this year regarding potholes damaging their vehicles.

Data from Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) shared with PortageOnline reveals an increase in pothole claims. As of March 10, 593 claims had been reported in 2024, a jump from the 379 claims reported at the same time last year.

While Portage la Prairie may have been nicknamed 'Pothole la Prairie' once upon a time, MPI data shows that only two of those 593 claims have come from Portage.  

MPI adds that over 400 of these pothole claims came from within Winnipeg.
