The Prairie Putter Men's Golf League has come to a close with Portage finishing in third place. Team captain Brett Janz says they played solid in their semi-final outing but notes they were just outmatched.

"Morden had a very good team, so it was tough," says Janz. "Dean Carins and I won our match but everyone else lost either 2-1 or 3-0. They have one play that played against Kenny Keeler and Farrol Asham, they said he shot -5 by himself. That's pretty tough to beat."

Janz says it was a nice change of pace to play golf this way, noting friendly competition is always fun. He adds it was a nice way to get out and try multiple different courses throughout the year. Janz says they will definitely be bringing the league back next year and will be adding a sixth squad.

"It'll be good to have Winkler in there. It's another nice course and they have some good players there so they'll be competitive right away too," Janz explains. "It'll be nice to have an even number of teams, so there are no bye weeks."

Janz, and the rest of the Prairie Putter league, believe the season was most definitely a success.
