The Manitoba High School Athletic Association's Provincial Urban Soccer Championships are in Portage la Prairie this weekend.

Portage Collegiate has been selected as the host of the tournament so both the PCI Trojans and PCI Saints will be taking part. Both teams open up the tournament against the number one seeds at 10 a.m. at Rotary Republic Park. The Trojans will be taking on St. Paul's while the Saints will be facing off against Sturgeon Heights.

"The boys are really excited for the weekend," says Trojans' head coach Chad Green. "They'll be a tough team but the last time we played them we lost three nothing, but we were also missing a couple of key components to the team. So I think it's going to be a completely different game."

Green adds a lot of the players that play for both PCI teams haven't been to an event like this, but the vets are ready and excited to get going.

"We've got the defending champs in our first game so it's going to be tough, but we're up for the challenge," says Saints' head coach Heather Schindel. "We've actually had a lot of action this year considering we weren't in a league. The girls are really looking forward to having their first home game of the year."

The Trojans and Saints will play again in the afternoon. Their opponent will vary depending on how they do in the morning. Get the full tournament draw here.
