After four years, CFRY’s Radio Talent Nights returned in a big way over the weekend.

The first of four events was Saturday night in Eriksdale, as the community and surrounding areas came together to raise money to upgrade the curling rink’s ice surface and lounge.

The Eriksdale Rec Centre was full as 13 performers participated in the event which ended up being a significant shot in the arm for the project, which could cost roughly $200,000.

Besides the performers themselves, the business community also contributed to the evening’s fundraising. The show started with $5700.00 already collected and by the end of the night, the final total was an incredible $28,313.00.

Cash prizes of $100.00, $200.00, and $300.00 were also awarded to individuals for their efforts for talent and popularity. Charlee Holm ended up raising the most at $3765.00 while Maija Kaartinen raised $3275.00. The Eriksdale School Choir brought in $1985.00 in pledges.

Anyone who pledged during the show can drop the donation off at Access Credit Union in Eriksdale during regular business hours.  Tax receipts will be provided. New donations are also being accepted.

Pledges can also be mailed to Eriksdale Community Club, PO Box 320, Eriksdale, MB R0C 0W0.

The next CFRY Talent Show is in Amaranth on Saturday, February 17th.
