On Saturday, June 27, just before 1 a.m. Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call of an assault, a hit and run and shots fired at Jackson Lake, located near Sidney Manitoba.

Media Liaison Officer Constable Larry Neufeld explains RCMP officers attended and located the suspect vehicle a short distance away from Jackson Lake, abandoned with a flat tire. Officers examined the vehicle, finding rounds from a firearm inside but not the firearm itself.

Officers then attended the Jackson Lake campground to ensure no one there was injured. When officers were satisfied that no one was harmed, they began to look for the suspect. After observing a vehicle tail light travelling near Jackson Lake, they conducted a traffic stop and discovered the suspect vehicle now travelling on three tires.

RCMP officers arrested a 27 year old male from Glenboro. He faces charges of assault, careless use of a fire arm, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose and discharge of a firearm while being reckless. The suspect's firearms were seized and he was released to appear in court at a later date.
