The Portage Terriers are back on the ice this weekend, but due to new restrictions implemented by the Manitoba government, fewer fans will be in the stands.

As of now, the current Manitoba Public Health Orders are restricting Stride Place to 250 fans per game.

Marketing director Cody Buhler says it could be worse, and they are focusing on the positives.

"The good news is the Terriers can keep playing hockey, and that's the big thing for us," says Buhler. "We're happy to be able to play hockey. We've seen cancellations, we've seen shutdowns, and so, the fact that, as of right now, we can still play this weekend, we're very happy for that."

The Terrier canteen will remain open, but the bar will be closed. All other activities including the Portage Toyota Chuck-a-Puck, Homestead Coop Chase the Ace, Panko’s Food Centre Meat Draw, and Jonair T-Shirt Cannon will continue like normal.

"We're basically only letting in season ticket holders and a few flex ticket holders. We're not selling walk up tickets. We are not selling any other online tickets. Kids Club has currently been suspended as well," says Buhler. "We've sold just over 200 season tickets this year. There is a small amount, so just under 50 tickets, that are available for flex ticket holders."

Anyone who already has a flex ticket must contact the Terrier office before noon on the day of a home game to ensure there will be room for them. You can call (204) 871-1162 or send an email to portageterriers@outlook.com to put in your request. If they reach 250 fans for that game, you will have to use your flex ticket for a future game.

As per usual, any spectator must provide proof of vaccination when arriving to Stride Place. Masks must be worn as well, unless you are eating or drinking.

The Terriers will host the Virden Oil Capitals this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
